Privacy Policy

Last updated August 13, 2026. This policy is reviewed at least every 12 months.

This policy explains what personal information Cabana Pool Service LLC, doing business as Cabana Pools ("Cabana," "we," "us"), collects about you, why we collect it, who we give it to, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. It covers cabanapools.com, quote.cabanapools.com, our phone and text communications, and the pool services we perform at your property.

We are the business responsible for this information. We are not collecting it on anyone else's behalf, and we handle your privacy requests ourselves.

The short version

  • We collect what we need to quote, schedule, perform, and bill pool service — plus website activity used for analytics and advertising.
  • We share website and app activity with advertising and analytics companies, including Google and Meta, for cross-context behavioral advertising. Under California law that counts as "selling" and "sharing," and you can tell us to stop. See Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.
  • Calls to and from our tracked numbers are recorded. See Telephone calls.
  • We do not sell your information for money, and we never sell customer service records.
  • We do not knowingly collect anything from children under 16.
  • Exercising your rights costs you nothing and will never get you worse service or a worse price.

This is the notice California requires us to give you at or before the point we collect anything (Civ. Code § 1798.100(a)). Categories use the statutory list in § 1798.140(v).

Where we get your information

  • From you — quote and contact forms, phone calls, texts, email, job applications, and what you tell our technicians.
  • Automatically from your device — cookies, pixels, and similar technologies, described in the next section.
  • From advertising platforms — click identifiers appended to links you follow into our site, and audience or interest segments those platforms infer.
  • From your property — equipment readings, water chemistry results, and photographs taken during a service visit.
  • From public and commercial sources — property records confirming lot, pool size, and address accuracy.
  • From referrals — if an existing customer refers you, we get your name and contact details from them.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising technologies

Our website uses cookies, pixels, tags, software development kits, and similar technologies that load and begin collecting information as soon as you open a page. We do not ask you to opt in first, and we do not currently offer a cookie banner. By using this site you are agreeing to this, as described in Your consent below. Read this section before you continue using the site.

What these technologies do

  • Recognize your browser or device across pages, visits, and our subdomains.
  • Record which pages you view, what you click, how far you scroll, how long you stay, and which page you arrived on first.
  • Record the advertisement, search, or link that brought you here.
  • Assign you to an A/B test group so we can compare versions of a page.
  • Tell advertising platforms when you take an action we care about, such as requesting a quote, so those platforms can bill us, measure the ad, and build audiences.
  • Swap the phone number displayed on the page so we can tell which marketing source produced your call.

The companies that receive this information

These partners set their own identifiers and receive data directly from your browser. Some of them use it for their own purposes under their own policies, which we do not control.

Cookies we set ourselves

  • _cabana_sid — a random visitor ID used to keep your A/B test group consistent across our site and quote flow. 1 year.
  • _cabana_lp — the first page you landed on, so we can credit the right marketing source. 1 year.
  • _fbc, _fbp — Meta click and browser identifiers. We copy these onto our top-level domain so they carry across to our quote subdomain, and where the Meta pixel has not yet set _fbc we construct it from the click identifier in the URL. Up to 90 days.
  • utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term, gclid, gbraid, wbraid, fbclid, msclkid and similar — the campaign and click identifiers from the link you followed. 30 days.

How to limit it

We do not gate these technologies behind a consent prompt, so the controls available to you are the ones below. We will honor a Do Not Sell or Share request regardless of which of these you use.

Opt-out preference signals (Global Privacy Control)

We detect and honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser or a browser extension sends GPC, we treat it as a request to stop selling and sharing your personal information, and we apply it automatically — you do not have to contact us or fill anything in.

When we receive a GPC signal, for that browser we:

  • Turn off advertising cookies and identifiers, and instruct Google not to use your data for advertising, ad personalization, or ad measurement;
  • Stop copying Meta's advertising identifiers onto our domain, and stop constructing them from the link you arrived on;
  • Stop passing your activity to advertising partners for audience building; and
  • Show a "Opt-Out Preference Signal Honored" confirmation in the footer of every page, so you can see it worked.

We continue to use first-party analytics to understand how our own site performs, and we still keep the information we need to quote, schedule, and bill your service. GPC is a request not to sell or share — it is not a request to delete, and it does not switch off the basic operation of the site. If you also want your information deleted, use the rights process below.

GPC is browser-specific and device-specific: if you use a different browser, a different device, or clear your browser storage, send the signal again there. Learn how to turn GPC on. You can also use the Do Not Sell or Share process, which applies to you as a person across browsers rather than to one browser.

We do not respond separately to the older Do Not Track header, which browser makers have largely retired in favour of GPC.

Telephone calls, texts, and email

Calls are recorded

Telephone calls to and from the numbers shown on this website are recorded and may be transcribed for quality assurance, training, dispute resolution, and to identify which marketing source produced the call. California is a two-party-consent state, so we tell you here and you will also hear a notice at the start of the call.

If you do not want to be recorded, say so at the start of the call and we will stop the recording, or contact us in writing at hello@cabanapools.com instead. Declining costs you nothing and will not affect your service or your price.

The phone number displayed to you may be a tracking number that forwards to our office rather than our main line. It reaches the same team.

Text messages

If you give us your mobile number we may text you about your quote, appointment, or technician arrival, and — where you have agreed to it — about promotions. Reply STOP to any message to end texts and HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. Consenting to marketing texts is never a condition of getting service.

Who else we disclose information to

  • Service providers and contractors — the companies listed above, plus payment processing, scheduling and field-service software, accounting, email and phone systems, insurance, and professional advisers. They are contractually limited to what we hire them for.
  • Advertising and analytics partners — as described in Cookies, analytics, and advertising. This is the disclosure that counts as selling or sharing under California law.
  • Legal and safety — when we are legally required to, to respond to lawful requests, to enforce our Terms of Use, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of a person.
  • Corporate transactions — if Cabana is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of it. The recipient stays bound by this policy for information collected under it until you are given notice of a change.

We do not disclose your service records, photographs of your property, or access instructions to advertising partners, data brokers, or anyone else for their own marketing.

Selling and sharing

California defines "sale" broadly enough to include disclosures made for valuable consideration rather than cash, and defines "sharing" as disclosing personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Being direct about where we land:

  • We share identifiers, internet activity, commercial information, coarse geolocation, and inferences with advertising and analytics partners for cross-context behavioral advertising and measurement. Some of those disclosures may also be a "sale" under the statutory definition, so we treat them as both.
  • We do not exchange personal information for money, and we do not sell to data brokers.
  • We have not knowingly sold or shared the personal information of anyone we know to be under 16.

In the 12 months before the date at the top of this page, the categories sold or shared, the categories disclosed for a business purpose, and the recipients are exactly those marked "Yes" in the Notice at Collection table and listed in the vendor table.

Your California privacy rights

If you live in California, the CCPA as amended by the CPRA gives you the following rights. You can exercise them yourself or through an authorized agent, free of charge.

  • Know and access — what we collected, where we got it, why, who we gave it to, and a copy of the specific pieces we hold. You may ask for a period longer than 12 months, and we will provide it unless doing so is impossible or would take a disproportionate effort.
  • Delete — subject to exceptions, such as records we must keep for tax, warranty, safety, or legal reasons.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt out of sale and sharing — see the section below.
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information — we do not use sensitive personal information in a way that triggers this right, so there is nothing to limit. If that changes we will update this policy and offer the choice.
  • Non-discrimination — we will not deny you service, charge you a different price, give you a lower quality of service, or suggest we might, because you exercised a right. We run no financial-incentive programs in exchange for personal information.
  • Appeal — if we deny your request, you may reply and ask us to reconsider, and we will respond in writing with our reasoning.

How to make a request

Use any of these. All are free.

  • Toll-free: (888) 817-4115
  • Email: hello@cabanapools.com with "Privacy Request" in the subject line
  • Mail: Cabana Pool Service LLC, Attn: Privacy, 1223 Cleveland Ave. Ste 200-305, San Diego, CA 92103

We confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 calendar days. If we need longer we will tell you and may take up to 90 days total. To protect you we have to verify who you are, which usually means matching two or three pieces of information we already hold — and more for a request to delete or for specific pieces of information. We will not use what you give us for verification for anything else.

An authorized agent must give us written permission signed by you, and we may still ask you to confirm directly.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

You can direct us to stop sharing your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You do not have to be a California resident and you do not have to give us a reason.

Include the email address, phone number, or service address you use with us so we can find you. We will action it within 15 business days, tell the partners we have already shared with, and keep the opt-out on file for at least 12 months before asking you again. We do not require an account to opt out.

By using cabanapools.com or quote.cabanapools.com, submitting a form, or calling or texting a number shown on this website, you consent to the collection, use, disclosure, recording, and interception of information described in this policy — including by the third-party analytics and advertising technologies named in Cookies, analytics, and advertising, and including the recording and transcription of telephone calls described in Telephone calls.

This consent covers our partners acting on our instructions and their receipt of the data described above. You can withdraw it at any time by using the Do Not Sell or Share process, by using the browser controls in How to limit it, or by not using the site. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did while it was in place, and does not require us to delete records we are legally required to keep.

How long we keep things, and how we protect them

Retention periods are in the Notice at Collection table. We keep each category only as long as needed for the purpose listed, or as long as the law requires — whichever is longer — then delete or de-identify it. Where we cannot give an exact period, our criteria are the length of our relationship with you, live warranty or dispute obligations, and applicable tax and record-keeping rules.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encryption in transit, access controls, and vendor review. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your information we will notify you as California law requires.

Children

Our services are sold to adults and this site is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, contact hello@cabanapools.com and we will delete it.

Note that our Terms of Use set the minimum age to use this site at 16, consistent with this section.

Where your information is handled

Cabana operates in California and stores information in the United States. Our vendors may process it in other countries whose privacy protections differ from your own. We serve customers only in California and this policy is written for California and United States law; it is not a GDPR notice.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and post the new version here. We review it at least once every 12 months. If a change materially expands how we use information we already hold, we will give you notice before it takes effect — by email or a notice on the site — and where the law requires consent, we will ask for it.
