Filter elements and the housing
A cartridge or DE filter has removable elements inside its housing. Cleaning removes collected debris; worn or damaged elements may need replacement while the housing remains usable. We explain whether the recommendation is for cleaning, repair or a new filter. Leave the tank closed: filter servicing requires the correct shutdown and pressure-release procedure.
Type, fit and service access
Cartridge, DE and sand filters have different cleaning requirements. The selected model must fit the circulation system and leave room for future servicing. Pump details and photos of the equipment area help us identify the proposed filter, connections and any additional installation work in the quote.
Reading filter pressure
Compare pressure with the clean starting reading under the same operating conditions. Pentair's FNS Plus guide, for example, uses the rise above the original starting pressure to help determine when cleaning is due. Follow the selected filter's manual: pressure alone cannot tell you that the entire filter needs replacement.
